This was my bladdy jam. However, I need to set the scene. Cape Town had a very small and tight hip hop community. There was a club we all frequented called The Base and the music was straight up militant, mixed with b boys flipping out on the dance floor and rap battles – mostly in Afrikaans.
We cared about the world and our country newly freed but still pretty fucked. And the music we listened to said it all. If I could rap I swear I would cover this song…. After all this time the song is relevant. Wait until it hits the two minute mark and listen to what is being said.
