This was written during the Tankwa Artscape residency. I finally managed to record something half decent. That’s Rodney Buys on keys.
We were dropped off at a remote spot and had to find our way back. We were not allowed to take our phones with. But I never leave with a notebook and pen. Lara and I performed this in the desert to the other residents and guests.

The song was inspired by the beauty of the desert. I discovered after the fact….that where I sat to write the song…was once a river. So the lyrics fit perfectly.
Here are the lyrics
A tribe of stones with no way home are calling out to me
The unknown stars and plains of broken blue
cloud all I can see
the vastness of familiar things are trinkets for slumbering kings
and still I walk alone
Until my heart splits in two
beneath shifting sands…
I walk alone.
I walk alone
It looms, it looms…touching the skies
The Dreaming Gods breathe silence
Stilling my desires that rivers through my bones
As I walk alone
