This is going on the album. All I need to find is a producer who will fuse this type of songwriting with the rest of what was written. Already a producer  is working on the song I wrote for Ben Harper. No, it is not a love song. Instead it is rather happy and magical ( in my mind at least). Also one can’t help but sing to it. That’s one song off the list. The gods have been good to me. Placing me I strange places with wonderful people who can give me what I need.

However, some of the songs fall into this category…where there is a tad bit of the mythical on the edges of the song. I wrote this after attending Afrika Burn. That space, with the strange people, music and spirit of Ubuntu blew my mind. The desert does things to one…and every cliche said about not only the desert but about festivals like Burning Man ( that’s next on the list) and Afrika Burn are all true. If you get an invite…just go and thank me later.

Anyhoo, here’s the song. Again, a rehearsal recorded on a phone. As you can tell, I am always happy when Rodney creates something beautiful with what I have written. He is a gift. As a musician and a friend. Now I need to find a producer who can translate this into the soundscape I need. This is an amazing song to sing and is always well received.

Lyrics

Cold is the night and wild where we come from

Riddle me, Riddle me gently with the skin under your song.

I hear it echo, tales of sunlight trapped within.

Riddle me, Riddle me gently, prize the warmth from deep within.

Between my toes there’s only desert sands. And places that remember water where the sharks once swam. Riddle me, Riddle me with your secret song.

Ooh

With each turning of the moon, apricot yellow our hearts become. Wild is the night as our skins become undone.

Now we hear it echo as the sun falls from the sky. Cold is the night as we sing our final goodbye.

Between our toes there’s only desert sands. And places that remember water where the sharks once swam. Riddle me, Riddle me, with your secret song.
